Shalom Bayit Counseling Center

Orthodox Jewish Couples & Marriage Counseling in New Jersey

Telehealth counseling for couples who want stronger communication, deeper connection, and a path through conflict that respects their values and the realities of Orthodox Jewish family life.

Couples counseling that understands your world

Relationship problems rarely exist in isolation. Marriage, family expectations, community life, religious values, parenting, trust, intimacy, and emotional patterns can overlap. Counseling should not require you to explain or defend the basic framework of your life before you can begin working on the relationship.

Shalom Bayit Counseling Center was created to provide relationship counseling that is evidence-based, culturally informed, and respectful of Orthodox Jewish life. The work is focused on helping couples understand what keeps happening between them, strengthen communication, and build a relationship that feels safer, more connected, and more intentional.

What we can work on

Communication & recurring conflict

Slow down patterns of escalation, communicate more clearly, and learn how to return to difficult conversations without repeating the same cycle.

Emotional disconnection

Understand the distance that has developed and rebuild friendship, emotional responsiveness, affection, and a sense of being on the same team.

Trust & betrayal recovery

Work through hurt, accountability, reassurance, triggers, and the gradual process of rebuilding safety after significant relationship injury.

Family pressure & boundaries

Protect the marriage while navigating parents, in-laws, loyalty conflicts, community expectations, and important family relationships.

Premarital counseling

Build practical skills around communication, expectations, values, conflict, emotional connection, and the transition into married life.

Life transitions & parenting stress

Stay connected as responsibilities change and learn to approach stress, parenting, work, and family demands as partners rather than opponents.

How I approach the work

Good couples counseling is not only about learning better phrases or avoiding arguments. It is about understanding the emotional and behavioral patterns underneath the conflict, helping each person regulate more effectively, and creating enough safety for honesty, vulnerability, accountability, and repair.

The work draws from evidence-based counseling and relationship approaches while remaining practical. Couples are encouraged to understand the cycle they are caught in, practice skills between sessions, recognize each other's attempts at change, and build positive connection outside of conflict.

A culturally informed Orthodox Jewish perspective

Religious commitments, family structure, community, Shabbat, halachic life, and Jewish values can meaningfully shape a marriage. These parts of life are treated with respect rather than as obstacles to therapy. Counseling is not a substitute for halachic guidance; when a question is properly a religious or halachic one, couples should consult their rabbi or appropriate halachic authority.

I specialize in marriage and relationship counseling and created Shalom Bayit Counseling Center in response to a gap I saw in culturally appropriate couples care within the Orthodox Jewish community. My aim is to bring together strong clinical work, practical relationship tools, and an understanding of the religious and cultural world in which couples actually live.
